The Italian president's fundamental task is to enforce the Constitution, President Sergio Mattarella said Tuesday.
"Among the tasks of the President of the Republic is, among the fundamental ones, that of ensuring that everyone respects the Constitution," he told managers of journalists health fundCASAGIT.
"That is starting with himself, of course, and that everyone respects it in the dialogue and discussion between the constitutional bodies." He added: "It would be serious if one of these, including the President of the Republic, were to claim to attribute to himselftasks that the Constitution assigns to other powers of the State".
