Eni today signed the renewal of its membership in the Mit Energy Initiative (Mitei), of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as a founding member until the end of 2027, continuing its commitment to research in the field of low carbon energy.
The signing of the agreement, explains a note, "confirms the central role that Eni assigns to innovation and research as drivers for achieving short, medium and long-term objectives in society's decarbonisation strategy".
The activities envisaged within the renewal focus on the development of projects such as CO2 capture, use and storage (CCUS), biofuels, energy storage solutions, essential for the industrial-scale development of renewable energy, as well as support for design of offshore wind farms.
Furthermore, the intense research activity on fusion energy will continue.
Eni has collaborated with MIT since 2008, carrying out numerous research programs to date, which have led to more than 40 patents, 70 projects and over 200 scientific publications.
